Acne and Your Scar – Free Future

When acne strikes, we can plan ahead to diminish that scarred future. The first and foremost action we can take is the hardest of all. And technically, it is not even an action. It is a lack of action. This step is resisting the almost overwhelming urge to pick. An eruption can come and grow and fade away (with a little topical help) quickly.

If we pick at an eruption, all we do is make the spot bigger, create a hole in our skin, grow a scab, and if we keep picking, we just make the eruption even bigger and definitely longer lasting. If you pick a scab, you just make it worse. A case of healing interrupts can lead to a lifelong scar. Wear sunscreen. The last thing you want is to tan your dark spots where the eruptions are and where your picking may have opened wounds.

There are a couple of proactive things you can do that will help keep your acne under control. One is physical and the other is mental.

• Get the toxins out of your system. Toxins can upset your body’s system and send what is essentially poison through your system. Think of it as dirt clogging your system, including your pores. This might motivate you to detoxify a couple of times a year just to keep your pipes clean. Check with your doctor or pharmacist about a good detox program.

• Get the stress out of your life. It has been proven scientifically the stress can cause illness including acne. This can be challenging because acne can cause stress. It is a vicious cycle and since acne is hard to stop and stress is also hard to stop you have to make a gigantic effort to work on stress which is more likely to stop acne and other side effects of stress. Try meditation, yoga, or long walks.

If you have already created some scars, do not despair. A chemical peel can remove the top layer of your skin where the most of the scarring is. This lets a fresh layer of skin shine through and it can before your new face to the world. If your scarring is really bad, there is another procedure that helps break up the hardened scar tissue under your skin. Your skin is anesthetized and a doctor uses a needle to dissolve these hard spots.
